‘To Nurture is to care and protect someone or something while they are growing’
We achieved the National Nurturing Schools Programme Award in June 2022. Some quotes from the day:
"The nurturing approach gave us a different way of understanding what’s behind the behaviour." Headteacher
"Everyone is really friendly here and everyone helps our families too." Children
"Getting a place at Holy Trinity has been the best thing for my family. I am so happy." Parents
"The teaching team all have the same approach. We have high expectations and we are all consistent." Staff Team
Our Nurture School status enables staff to develop personally and professionally while embedding a nurturing culture throughout the school, enhancing teaching and learning, and promoting healthy outcomes for all children, families, and staff. Our nurturing approach is achieved by focusing on both emotional needs and development, as well as academic learning, within a whole-school environment. The programme is based on the six principles of nurture that we work hard to embed throughout our school.
What this means for your child:
We meet with children to support and challenge unhelpful and negative beliefs about themselves and build resilience.
The development of social and emotional skills is at the heart of our curriculum.
We use positive reinforcement and nurturing opportunities to recognize and manage their emotions.
We act on the pupil voice through questionnaires, class assemblies, circle time and school council meetings. Transitions are carefully planned. Children feel safe at Holy Trinity and are supported to develop their emotional literacy.
We understand the children learn and develop at different ages and stages and this
is reflected in our curriculum and approaches.
