Year 3/4 Girls Football Festival @ MUFC - Monday 7th October 2019.
Our year 3 and 4 girls entered their first competitive fixture of the year. The girls showed terrific teamwork and silky skills. Well done to the girls!

Sports for Champions Day 2019
On Thursday 25th April 2019, children from years 1-6 took part in Sports for Champions Day. On this day the children and staff dressed up as their sporting hero and were visited by Team GB Decathlete, Matt Lee. The children attended an assembly in which Matt talked about the importance of perseverance, nutrition and his own experiences in elite sport. Each year group then took part in a circuit with Matt, focused around individual achievement. Below are some of the pictures from the day.
Sports for Champions Day
Year 5 MCFC - 2018-19
MCFC invited year 5 teams from across Manchester to take part in a 'friendly' competition. From the 6 games they played they won 3, drew 2 and lost one. Due to this excellent performance, they have been invited to take part in a competition later on in the year. Well done to all who took part.
Key Stage 2 Gymnastics - 2018-19
Key stage 2 have been working really hard at gymnastics club with their coach this year. A year 3 & 4 team along with a year 5 & 6 team took part in the competition which was held and Manchester Institute of Gymnastics. Everyone who took part represented school really well, and well done to Zara who finished 2nd overall in the year 5 & 6 competition.
Year 5 & 6 Hockey - 2018-19
Abraham Moss was the venue for the hockey tournament. Two teams attended the event, including a mixture of boys and girls from year 5 & 6. All pupils showed a great understanding of the rules along with excellent teamwork and communication. The top two teams from each group went through to the Citywide finals, both teams finished third in their respective groups. Well done to all the pupils who took part.
Year 5 & 6 Dodgeball - 2018-19
Pupils at Holy Trinity love Dodgeball. It is a crazy game but teaches children a lot of fundamental skills, including throwing, catching and co-ordination. This is the first time we have entered a Dodgeball competition. The year 5's finished in 6th place in their group and the year 6's finished in 5th. Well done to all who took part.
Year 2 MCFC - 2018-19
Our year 2 pupils took the morning out of class to take part in a friendly competition at MCFC. The children were amazed by the facilities and had a great time. Even though it was a friendly competition, the pupils went unbeaten and have been invited back for a competitive tournament. Well done to all who took part.
Year 4 MCFC - 2018-19
Our year 4 pupils spent the morning at MCFC's world class training facilities. They took part in a friendly tournament against schools all across Manchester. Everyone who took part represented school in a great manor, and managed to go unbeaten in the tournament. As a result of this, they have been invited back to play against other schools in a competitive tournament. Well done to all who took part.
Sportshall Athletics - 2018-19
Our Lady's R C High school hosted a Sportshall Athletics competition so we took 2 teams along to compete. The pupils took part in a mixture of modified athletics events, including javelin, long jump, chest throw, speed bounce and running. Out of the 12 teams who took part the year 5's finished in 6th place and the year 6's finished in 8th place. Well done to everyone who took part.
Reception MUFC - 2018-19
Once a week MUFC come in to coach our reception children. They worked on key skills in football and generally got the children active for the hour. Thanks to the coaches who were involved.
Inspire Multi Sports Festival - 2018-19
A group of year 5 & 6 pupils visited Moston Lane for a multi sports festival. The event was purely participation based, with no winners being announced at the end. The festival involved a mixture of activities, including dodgeball and badminton. Well done to everyone who took part.
Citywide Finals - Tag Rugby 2018-19
After going through the group stages unbeaten we got to the Citywide Finals. This took place at St Peters RC High School and some fantastic rugby skills where on display. Out of the ten schools who attended the finals, we finished in fifth place overall. This is an amazing achievement, and we remained unbeaten throughout the whole tournament.
KS2 Judo Day 2018/19
At the beginning of November 2018, KS2 took part in a Judo Day in which children learnt about the perseverance, British values, respect and skills that are evident within the Olympic sport. Each class took part in a workshop which was led by ex Olympian and European medalist Sophie Cox. Sophie represented Great Britain in the 2004 and 2012 Olympic games, won a bronze medal at the 2010 Judo World Cup and the 2003 and 2011 European championships and won silver in the 2004 and 2005 European Judo Championships. This was an excellent opportunity for the children to experience and gain an understanding of the sport of Judo, what it take to become an Olympian and quality coaching from an experienced professional Judo athlete and coach.
Tag Rugby 2018/19 - Week 2
After a strong start to the competition we went into the second and final week with confidence. On the day of the tournament, the rules were changed slightly, which meant our pupils had to adjust quickly. Despite new rules, we managed to go through the tournament unbeaten, with all but three of our squad of ten scoring a try at some point. This shows it was a fantastic effort. Well done to everyone who took part and congratulations for reaching the finals two years in a row.
Tag Rugby 2018/19 - Week 1
Last year we managed to get to the Citywide finals of Tag Rugby, so we went into this competition with excitement and optimism. The tag rugby competition runs over two consecutive weeks at The Co-operative Academy lead by staff and young leaders from the school. We made an excellent start, winning two games and drawing one. This puts us in first place in our group, with a good chance to reach the finals again. Well done to all who took part.
Girls Football League 2018/19 - Week 1
For the first time the year 5 & 6 girls have entered a football league. This takes place at MCA and will run over 5 evenings throughout the year. Considering its their first taste of competitive football, the girls did themselves proud. After the first week we have one point after one win and one loss. Well done to everyone who took part.
Cross Country 2018-19
This event is out first of the academic year. Both evenings we were blessed with nice weather, which isn't always the case. With nearly 200 runners on display, all pupils from HT did ran really well and did the school well. Some pupils did extremely well, with Zara finishing 6th, Melissa finishing 8th and Emmanuel finishing 13th. Well done to all pupils and staff involved.
School Games Mark 2017-18
School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Thanks to the hard work of staff and pupils at Holy Trinity we have managed to achieve a Gold Award for 2017-2018. Well done to all the pupils and staff for their commitment throughout the year. We have achieved a Gold award two years on the bounce, and our aim will be to maintain gold award status next year.
Year 5 & 6 Quadkids 2017-18
This is the first year we have entered Quadkids, an athletics event where every child takes part in 4 different events. The events included a short distance run, a long distance run, a throw and a jump. Despite it being the warmest day of the year, all pupils represented school in a fantastic manner.
Year 5 & 6 Go Ride Finals 2017-18
This year the finals were held at East Manchester Academy. They are lucky enough to have a mountain bike track on their field which was a challenge for all of the pupils involved. As a team we finished 5th overall. This is a great achievement when you consider that there are over 130 primary schools in Manchester. A special mention goes for Coden, as he won all of the races he took part in.
Year 5 & 6 Tri Golf 2017-18
A group of year 5 pupils took part in a Tri Golf competition at Platt Lane Sports Complex. Tri Golf is a version of golf that introduces children to the key skills of chipping and putting in golf. Out of the 10 pupils involved only a small number of them had played golf before. Despite this they all did an amazing job. Well done to all who took part.
Year 5 & 6 Go Ride 2017-18
Two teams attended the Go Ride event at Our Lady's High School. All pupils who took part did fantastically well, some of them even managed to beat some year 7's in the event. As a result of doing so well, one team qualified for the Citywide Finals.
Year 5 & 6 Kwik Cricket @ MCA 2017-18
Year 5 & 6 have been practising hard at cricket club this year. They have made lots of progress, especially in their bowling. We entered a competition at MCA to test ourselves against local schools. We won our two group games which put us in the final. Unfortunately we lost in the final but as a reward to reaching the finals, we are entered into the Citywide cricket finals. This means we play against the finalists from East, West and South Manchester schools. We done to all who took part.

Greater Manchester Climbing Comp @ Rock Over Climbing 2017-18
A few weeks ago all of year 6 went to Rock Over Climbing to experience climbing in a fantastic facility. The 10 best climbers were then chosen to represent school in a competition. All the pupils who took part showed great resilience and never gave up. Well done to everyone who took part.
Change 4 Life Festival @ Platt Lane 2017-18
This year, with some help from Miss Quinn and her year 6 team, we have reintroduced C4L club. Year 1's and 2's meet once a week to play some fun games and learn about the importance of a healthy life style. The club has been a great success with all the pupils involved developing in confidence. As a reward for their hard work they took part in a fun packed day at Platt Lane Sports Complex, and walked away with a group award for their determination. Well done to everyone who took part.
Citywide Gymnastics 2017/18
This year pupils from year 3,4,5 & 6 attended a gymnastics competition at The Manchester Institute of Gymnastics. Everyone who took part had to learn a floor routine, a body management routine an a simple vault. All the pupils who took part did amazingly, but special mention goes to the year 3 & 4 team who finished 3rd overall. Miya in year 6 finished in 3rd place individually and Zara in year 4 finished 1st overall individually.
Year 2 Football @ MCFC 2017-18
A group of year 2 pupils took part in a tournament that was held at The City Football Academy. This is where all of the MCFC teams train, from the youngsters all the way up to the first team. The pupils did themselves and HT proud with their hard work. Well done to all who took part.
Year 5 & 6 Basketball 2017-18
This year we have entered and A and B team into a basketball league. Both teams are competing for a chance in the Citywide Basketball finals. After the first week the A team has played 4 games, winning 3 and losing one. The B team has played 4 games and lost them all so far. All the pupils have shown a great understanding of basketball so far.
Year 4 Disability Awareness Day - MCFC
Our year 4 children took part in a disability awareness workshop lead by Paul Kelly from MCFC. The day is designed to give the children an insight into different disabilities they may come into contact with throughout society. The day is split between the classroom and practical activities to make sure pupils gain a good understanding. The children played lots of games including a lip reading game, sit down volleyball and blind football. The children gained a lot of knowledge from the day and had a fantastic time doing so. Thanks to Paul for leading this session.

Our Lady's Dance Festival 2017-18
This year we entered the Dance Festival and took a group of 25 children to take part. They had worked hard over a term learning a dance with their dance teacher Francesca. All the pupils who took part did HT extremely proud.
HT in Partnership with Manchester City Football Club
Using the PE Premium funding given to each school by the government, we have become a partner school with Manchester City Football Club. This gives us direct access to City in the Community (CITC), which has been using football to create opportunities, build futures and touch lives in a unique way, ever since it was established in 1986. Through this partnership, our pupils get access to the best coaches in PE lessons and after school clubs. These coaches are also helping our teachers to develop their delivery of PE lessons.
Indoor Athletics 2017-18
Year 5 & 6 entered an indoor athletics event hosted by Our Lady's R C High School. The event was run fantastically by the sports leaders from OLRCHS. Our children took part in a wide range of events including relays, javelin, speed bounce and javelin. Both the boys and girls scores were added together and we finished in 4th place out of 10 schools. Well done to all who took part.
Tag Rugby 2017-18
Year 5 & 6 qualified for the finals of the tag rugby this year after some impressive performances at the Co-pertative Academy. The finals were held at St Peters R C High School. On an extremely wet day all the pupils did Holy Trinity proud in the way that they represented school. On the day we managed to win 3 of ours games. Well done to all who took part.

Year 5 & 6 Go Ride - Citywide Finals
After winning the North Manchester Go Ride event a group of year 5 and 5 pupils took part in the citywide finals. The weather looked ominous on the morning of the event but it held off long enough for the event to go ahead. All pupils showed grit and determination on a challenging course. We finished 5th overall on the night but getting to the finals was an achievement in itself.
Year 5 & 6 - Tri Golf
The Platt Lane Sports Complex hosted a Tri Golf competition for primary schools from North Manchester. We took a group of year 5 and 6 pupils to take part and they did really well considering most of them hadn't played golf before. Out of 13 schools we finished in 5th place, which is an excellent achievement.
Year 6 - Go Run For Fun
Our year 6 pupil's took part in a 2k fun run at the Etihad Campus. Over 10 schools took part in this fantastic event with all our pupils showing determination and resilience to complete the course.
Year 5 & 6 Go Ride - 2016-17
Our Lady's R C High School hosted a cycling event sponsored by Sky. This is an amazing event which involve pupils racing against each other in different types of cycling events. Sky sponsor the event, so all the bikes and safety equipment are provided. We managed to finish in 1st place overall, which means we go on to represent North Manchester in the Citywide finals at Phillips Park.
Year 5 & 6 Football with MUFC - Summer 1
Year 5 & 6 are lucky enough to have a 6 week block of football with coaches from the Manchester United Football Academy. Throughout these 6 weeks pupils will develop their football skills, which will hopefully encourage them to carry on playing football or take it up in the future.
'Road to Old Trafford' - Year 2 & 3 Football
A group of year 2 and 3 pupils took part in a football competition are the MUFC Cliff Training ground. The prize for the winners was the opportunity to play at Old Trafford against winners from other tournaments. The boys represented school excellently, showing great teamwork and commitment. Out of the 6 games we played we had 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. This put us in 4th place overall. Well done to all that took part.
Holy Trinity PE Premium 2017/18 (financial)
PE premium is money given to schools by the government to develop PE and Sport in primary schools. This money is to be used to increase the amount of PE taking place in schools and also to develop teachers ability to deliver high quality PE lessons. So far, Holy Trinity has used this money in a number of ways. These include hiring external coaches to deliver sessions, purchasing new equipment, sending members of staff on courses to develop their teaching and many more things. Below is a link to show how we intend on spending our funding for the next financial year. Due to an increase in the PE premium, next year we are taking advantage of our link with Manchester City Football Club and hiring one of their academy coaches for a full day each week. They will be working alongside our staff to help them increase their confidence in teaching PE.

MCWFC Trophy Visit - Spring 2017
Last year Manchester City Women's Football Club had a successful season. They won the FA Women's Super League and the FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup. Holy Trinity is a partner school with City In The Community so yesterday we were paid a visit by a Bernard Halford. Bernard is the Life President of Manchester City and he did a talk with KS2 pupils along with a Q & A session. After this all classes in school had their photo taken with trophies. With this visit we are hoping to inspire our pupils and show them that through hard work and dedication you can achieve anything.
Year 1 FA Skills Coaching - Spring 2017
Over the next half term 1H & 1T will be receiving football sessions from a coach. Pupils will be working on their agility, balance and co-ordination skills through football. Here are some pictures of the sessions so far.
City of Manchester Hockey Club - Year 5 & 6 2016-17
Year 5 & 6 were lucky to have some sessions with a Hockey Coach from the City of Manchester Hockey Club. Ian took pupils through a warm up, discussing the importance of this, and then worked on some basic skills. Our pupils were then invited to attend some coaching sessions with the City of Manchester Hockey Club. Ian was impressed with the skills our pupils showed and even left us with some free hockey sticks.
Total Gymnastics - Reception 2016
Total gymnastics is creating opportunities for every child to try gymnastics. Total gymnastics was set up by Beth Tweddle, Britain's most successful gymnast with 3 world titles and an Olympic medal from London 2012. This week (12.12.16) reception where lucky enough to have some coaching from one of Total Gymnastics very experienced coaches.
Year 5 & 6 Dance Festival 2016
Some of our students have been working really hard on their routine with their dance coach. They took part in a dance festival with other schools from the area. All pupils who took part should be really proud of themselves for performing in front of such a big crowd.

Year 6 pupils were asked to put their names forward if they wanted to take this role on. This role involves meeting with Mr O'Leary to come up with ideas to further improve PE and sport at Holy Trinity. Below is a picture of the pupils who have been chosen for this role.
Sports Day 2015-16
EYFS, KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2 all had separate sports days this year due to increased numbers of pupils coming through school. Pupils took part in events such as skipping, sprinting, sack race, balance race, hurdles, relay and many more. The events were well attended and supported by pupils, staff and parents. We competed in our first ever gymnastics competition at the City Of Manchester Institute Of Gymnastics. We took part in the Key Steps 1 and Key steps 3 team competition.

Y3/4 Football tournament
On the 22nd March the Y3/4 football team took part in our first tournament for the 'Moston Shield'. After only a few practices the team played really well and showed great team work and sportsmanship. Well done!

Celebration Festival
HT Community club went to visit Loreto RCHS for a Celebration Festival. This involved the children taking part in a range of sporting activities alongside other clubs from around Manchester. Some of the older children also helped in a young leaders role- helping run the activities.
We won the award for the Best Team! Well done everyone!
