Year 5

Welcome to YEAR 5!

Welcome to Year 5's class page.

We have two Year 5 classes - 5H and 5T.

The Year 5 staff are Mr Yates-Hart and Mrs Johnson in 5H and Mr McMullen and Mrs Hagan in 5T. Miss Howell works across both classes too!

Mr West and Miss Wren provide specialist teaching for PE and music.

Miss Jackson supports us in Forest Schools.

PE and Forest Schools

Our PE day is on a Tuesday in Year 5.

Forest School is on alternate Mondays (5H one week, 5T the next).

Children should come to school dressed in their PE kit or other appropriate sportswear and trainers to ensure safety during PE lessons.

For Forest Schools, suitable footwear and clothing should be worn. Waterproofs are provided by school.

We request that children wear their school jumpers over their PE kits.

Homework

Children should be reading every day and filling in their reading record themselves or with an adult. They will then be able to quiz on Accelerated Reader when they come into school.

Reading and quizzing can also be done from home through MyON reading.

Making use of TTRockstars at home, will greatly support Year 5 children in maths lessons this year. Having a secure knowledge of times tables is crucial, as the children progress into Upper Key Stage 2.

Monday: Children will be given a list of spellings to practise throughout the week at home, to prepare for the spelling test on Fridays.

Friday: A maths worksheet is given out, to be completed and returned for Tuesday (Monday will be a reminder to bring the following day).

We ask for these to completed on the sheet, as we do not have homework books going home.
