Thursday 11th February - English
Today we are going to work on our handwriting again and then we are going to write the instructions on how to make a sandwich. Think about what you need to include in your instructions.
Your instructions should include - a title, what you need and step by step instructions on how to make the sandwich.
Instructions also include verbs and time words.
We want to see you use your phonics and handwriting skills when writing your instructions.
When you have finished your instructions email them to y1@holytrinity.manchester.sch.uk

Thursday 11th February - Maths
Using the counters and tens frames from yesterday we are continuing to use number bonds adding ones.
Example 12 + 4 =
Fill 1 tens frame with 1 colour counter and another tens frame with 2 counters of a different colour and place underneath each other. Next to these, place a tens frame with 4 counters the same colour as the tens frame that has 2 in it.
Now add the ones first (2 + 4) = 6. Then we can add the tens. So 1 ten and 6 ones = 16.

Know that the tongue allows you to taste - How does my tongue help me to taste?
What part of our body do we use to taste? Our tongue is what helps us to taste.
Look in the mirror at your tongue or the person who is helping you with science today. Can you see the small dots? What do you think these are?
These are called taste buds and they help us to taste our food.
Do you like chocolate, broccoli or bread? Everybody has taste buds that might be different to ours which is why we like different things to eat.
We can group our food into those that taste sweet, sour and salty. Watch the short video clip Learn about my five senses (Sense of Taste) - Bing video
For your science activity today, I would like you to write about one meal you have eaten today. Can you describe whether it was salty, sweet or sour? You can also draw a picture of your food?
Send a copy of your finished work to Y1@holytrinity.manchester.sch.uk
